Shania honored by folks in home town
Country queen Shania Twain can now really say she has everything After a whirlwind year in which she has performed on every major award show, taken home her fair share of trophies and seen her second album, The Woman In Me, sell 8 million copies in North America alone, the sultry singer with the toned tummy was presented with keys to her own city - Timmins, Ont. - yesterday by the mayor.
There was alse a boulevard dedication to her - Shania Twain Way - at a local park.
Twain's next stop is in Toronto for a fan appreciation day at the CNE bandshell tomorrow where, as of 2 pm, she will sign autographs, pose for photos with fans and take part in a question and answer period. She will be available until 6 pm.
She will also be presented with the two Junos she was too sick to pick up earlier this year.
CNE publicist Steve Rukavina says the response to Twain's arrival has been "overwhelming."
And although the Exhibition has never taken part in this type of event before, they are prepared for large crowds.
"It's really just a chance to be around Shania," he said.
"We expect tons of people. The bandshell park area can hold up to 10,000 people. In terms of what we're anticipating, I don't know."
Twain has done two previous fan appreciation days - in Dallas and Minneapolis.
